How to Stop Self-Sabotaging Your Success
Breaking the Cycle: How to Catch It Before It Kills Your Momentum
It’s not about stopping self sabotage - it’s about CATCHING IT!
Have you ever felt like you’re your own biggest roadblock?
You start strong, fuelled with excitement and inspiration—then somewhere along the way, you stall, lose motivation, hesitate, start overthinking and completely drop the ball.
Before you know it - months or even years go by and you never went back to finishing what you started.
I know this feeling all too well… does this sound familiar?
Why?
Because our subconscious and rogue self-sabotage is sneaky and too easily convinces us to quit or detour - most of the time with out us even knowing it.
It shows up in small, subtle ways:
❌ Not finishing what you start
❌ Breaking promises to yourself
❌ Doubting your own abilities
❌ Getting distracted by starting new ideas before completing the current one
❌ Making excuses (“I’m too busy” or “It’s not the right time”)
But here’s the truth:
Self-sabotage isn’t about being “lazy” or “unmotivated.” It’s just fear.
Fear of failure. Fear of success. Fear of what happens if I actually finish. Fear of what other people will think of my finished project. Fear of what will happen if I become this new committed successful person.
It’s fear disguised as ‘rational’ & ‘logical’ thoughts.
It’s ok to quit now. Stop & try something else new. It doesn’t matter if I don’t finish this. I am not deserving of this. I am not good enough to finish this. Who would want to listen or read my work anyways?
How to Break the Cycle
1️⃣ AWARENESS.
Instead of aiming to “eliminate” self-sabotage, focus on noticing and catching it when it creeps in. If you’re becoming aware of when it’s happening that is a good thing!
Ask yourself:
Am I making excuses or delaying for no real reason?
Am I hesitating out of fear, not logic?
Am I about to do something that contradicts my bigger goal?
2️⃣ MAKE A COMMITMENT TO COMPLETION.
Even when it gets hard, even when life gets chaotic— make finishing the new standard.
If you start something, you finish it.
If you take on a new project or goal, you set a realistic timeframe before you even think about pivoting.
3️⃣ BE KIND, BUT FIRM.
If you fall off track, don’t quit. Just show up again the next day or the next week. No shame, no guilt—just forward motion. 🚀
✨ THIS IS YOUR NEW AGREEMENT WITH YOURSELF:
If I start, I finish.
If I take on a challenge, I see it through.
If I feel resistance, I lean in—not run away.
I am enough. I am deserving. I can and will commit to this new promise I have made to myself.
I hope these thoughts and ideas help you unblock new flows into your life and unlock new possibilities for you creatively in your personal life or your entrepreneurial business journey.
Be gentle with yourself. Take it slow but be consistent. Be purposeful with your energy, be present to your surroundings and be open to the opportunities the universe has in store for you.
Stay tuned for more because we’re on this journey together.
Big love x
