DONE IS BETTER THAN PERFECT

The reminder I needed today: Release the work, stay consistent, and stop overthinking.

From Overthinking to Action: My Biggest Creative Hurdle

For anyone who read last week’s I AM DREAMER blog, 10 Ways to Get Unstuck & Find Clarity on the Creative Path, the point that stuck with me the most—and kept circling in my mind all week—was this:

👉 Done Is Better Than Perfect.

Here’s the exact paragraph I wrote:

80% Done Is Better Than Perfect.
“80% is enough and ready,” someone recently told me. Perfectionism is our greatest enemy. Don’t let it hold you back from releasing your work or moving on to the next task. The goal isn’t perfection—it’s progress. Put out version 1.0, learn, refine, and evolve. The best creators start average, refine & grow in public, and then become absolute gods of their craft.

If you're anything like me, you’re great at starting. You get hit with rocket ship energy—full of inspiration and motivation. But then, you hit a plateau.

And that’s when the enemy creeps in… Overthinking.

My Biggest Creative Struggle

On my creative journey, overthinking has been the biggest hurdle to overcome.

But for me, it doesn’t show up at the start of a project—it sneaks in towards the end.

Writing, coming up with creative ideas, a song, a business concept? No problem. That part feels natural. But as soon as I hit the final stretch, my mind starts racing:

  • How am I going to release this?

  • How will this idea actually work in the real world?

  • Is this song actually good enough?

It’s like icing a cake—only to overthink the packaging, the ribbon, and the route to the post office.
What’s the best way to get there? What color gift wrap should I use? Should I trust Google Maps or Apple Maps? What day should I send it?

All unnecessary noise—keeping me from just delivering the damn cake. 🎂

What If That Final 20% Doesn’t Even Matter?

I’ve heard this concept in business before—where people waste hours agonizing over emails, wording, or tiny details that don’t actually change the outcome.

So, what if we applied that same thinking to creativity?

What if the final 20% of overthinking—the hours spent tweaking, doubting, hesitating—doesn’t actually make a huge difference?

What if 80% done is enough?

Taking My Own Advice

Now, full disclosure—I’m writing this as much for myself as I am for you.

For so long, I’ve wanted to share my thoughts and build a community through a weekly blog (and eventually, a podcast). Getting started? Easy. I had that rocket ship energy, and the momentum carried me.

But now, just a few weeks in? Life is getting busy. My morning routine fell apart. A few personal dramas happened. And suddenly, the fear of not getting this blog "perfect" crept in.

I almost skipped this week.

But then, I stopped.

And I remembered: Done Is Better Than Perfect.

So here I am. Friday morning. After a long, exhausting week. The blog should have been scheduled and published by last night. But instead of forcing perfection, I asked myself:

🔹 What’s ONE idea I can share this week?
🔹 What’s ONE thought that could bring value?

And that’s how I ended up here. Writing this. 80% done. Ready to hit publish.

And you know what? Maybe 80% is enough for this week—instead of staying up until 2 AM, running on no sleep, just to chase perfection.

Let’s see if it actually makes a difference.

I hope this weeks thoughts help you unblock new flows into your life and unlock new possibilities for you creatively in your personal life or business journey.

Be gentle with yourself. Take it slow but be consistent. Be purposeful with your energy, be present to your surroundings and be open to the opportunities the universe has in store for you.

Stay tuned for more because we’re on this journey together. And we’re just getting started…

Big love x
